I’ve posted a few times promoting my Patreon page, which I continue to update. I can’t help it; I’m excited to work on it. I’m not someone who is looking at Patreon as a primary business model; I love teaching music. Patreon is another educational tool to help those pursuing their musical interests.
Will my Patreon page be a colossal mistake? I think that’s unlikely, but probably not for the reasons you think. I’ve taught piano and theory full-time for over 25 years, travelling to students’ homes for in-person lessons. Then I switched to teaching privately online one-to-one over Skype and Zoom, which I continue to do full time. So am I moving my studio to Patreon? Not at all, and that’s why I think it’ll be hard for me to fail.
I enjoy creating educational resources for music education, whether it be courses, videos, textbooks, exams, and whatever else I can think of. I use these materials when teaching online through Skype or Zoom. My Patreon page is where I’ll post these resources along with my albums, sheet music, and scores.
While I hope someone finds what I post and teach online through Patreon of value, I’m new to this, and my goals are entirely different than many. It won’t be fancy or high-tech, just an old-school style music teacher on Patreon.
