I’ve been working as a music instructor for over a decade operating my own successful music education company Bach To Basics Inc., and recently its divisions Listening Edge Records, Illustrious Sound, and Trevor Baron Music. As a music instructor I found more of my college level students wanting to start professional careers in the music industry. Being an independent musician myself I’ve done many jobs including transcribing, arranging, directing choirs, serving as a Juno awards judge, and much more. I understand what it takes to run a successful career and music company. Many times as an independent musician you find yourself taking on the rolls of, manager, graphic artist, photographer, artistic director, engineer, producer, advertiser, booking agent, web designer, sales representative, PR, accountant, and of course artist, performer, and song writer, all in the course of putting out your latest recording. (I have done all of these in my own career). As a music educator and small business owner I’m more than happy to share with students the experience and knowledge I’ve gained from running my own music company and career for over a decade. In addition my personal and business memberships in a wide variety of professional music industry associations provides me insight into the music industry, and the many different types of music careers it has to offer.
